The much-anticipated Season 2 of the musical adult cartoon Hazbin Hotel arrives on Prime Video this week, and audience theories has been intense.
The first season introduces a large cast of personalities living within the afterlife, sets them at odds with musical numbers about their clashes, and establishes tense rivalries and emotional bonds that drive audience devotion.
The fandom's stated hopes for the new season differ greatly, but certain threads emerge over and over: Could Angel Dust break free from Valentino? Might we learn more about the mysterious "deal" affecting Alastor the Radio Demon? Will [favorite character] and [other character] finally get together?
"Obviously, I don't make the show with fan service specifically in mind," the showrunner stated earlier this year. "But I feel like me being a devotee of the series means there's a lot of it just inherently. I also am eager for these things, and I hope some of these things to occur, and obviously some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"
The creator reveals her long-term vision is for five seasons of Hazbin Hotel. Future installments have already been green-lit by the production companies, which finance the series.
That might mean fans have to be patient for some of the major resolutions — but they could be shocked at how fast the new season moves, and how many of what they're waiting for happens this season.
"I feel like people are going to be highly satisfied," she adds. "We get some firsts. I think we receive some incredible reveals, some fascinating origin tales, and even basic elements, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] We're going to hear much more singing from the characters we didn't get to hear before."
The creator is well-informed of the theories and desires about the upcoming season — particularly in the form of fan bingo cards.
"I've come across a couple people make a prediction grid about the new season," she says. "Naturally I won't share it, but I've actually done some of them, and almost all of them have almost a bingo. I thought, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that leads me to believe we accomplish much [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I was like, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that makes me happy."
Hazbin Hotel the second season launches on Prime Video on October 29.
